Useful Society of American Archivists Links

Rather than directing our users blindly to the Society of American Archivists (SAA) webpage for information, here are some links to info on the SAA’s website that might also be useful for researchers (as well as archivists).

Are you interested in learning a bit about the ins and outs of archives? Maybe you’re just confused about what an archives REALLY is? Perhaps you just don’t quite understand how the archives can benefit you or how to do research in one? The SAA has an excellent lesson in archives called: “Using Archives: A Guide to Effective Research” that will help you understand archives better and make your research attempts more fruitful.

The SAA’s Glossary of Archival and Records Terminology can help you navigate the technical terms archivists have a tendency to use in conversation. It is also useful for identifying the potential differences in terms. If you’ve ever wondered why an archivist uses one word rather than another, this is the place to find out!
