Latino Americans – 500 Years of History Grant

7 Jul

We are pleased to announce that the Arizona Historical Society – Library & Archives Division in Tucson has been awarded the highly competitive Latino Americans – 500 Years of History grant. The AHS Library & Archives received one of only two grants awarded in Southern Arizona. This programming grant was awarded from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the American Library Association (ALA) to host four community events centering around the PBS documentary series Latino Americans. We are honored to be a part of a project that will celebrate the rich history of the Latino community in Tucson. For this endeavor, we will be partnering with the University of Arizona’s Spanish and Portuguese and Women’s and Gender Studies departments, Arizona State University Libraries – Chicano/a Research Collection and REFORMA de Tucson to bring innovative programming to Southern Arizona. Please look for the first of these events in fall 2015!
