Latin@ Civil Rights in Arizona

15 Jan

Please join us for the third event in the Nuestro Tucson series: a discussion followed by a screening of the PBS documentary Prejudice and Pride. Dr. Anita Huizar-Hernández will discuss the Latina/o civil rights movement in Southern Arizona and how it relates to national movements.

There will be an opening reception starting at 5:30 p.m. with local food and drink sponsored by Tucson Tamale Company and 1912 Brewing Company, where you will have a chance to share your thoughts about Tucson in our Nuestro Tucson Oral History Project. The discussion will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the screening at 7:00 p.m.

This event is free to the public, made possible through the Latino Americans 500 Years of History grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association. If you have questions, please contact the AHS Tucson Library at 520-617-1157 or ahsref@azhs.gov.12494900_10154036258661842_751553387591582159_n
