Food and a Photo Friday

11 Apr

If you love food (like we do!) and history (we definitely like that too!), have we got some exhibits for you! The Fort Lowell Museum opened a brand new exhibit last weekend dedicated to how the troops were fed at Fort Lowell and the types of things they consumed. A Bite to Eat: Feeding the Troops is open for viewing at the Fort Lowell Museum at 2900 N. Craycroft Rd., Tucson, AZ on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am-4pm.

In support of their exhibit, the Tucson Library and Archives will be opening another food-related exhibit in the reading room. Food for Thought: A Glimpse into Arizona’s Culinary Past showcases some fun items from our collections that highlight how people in this region have prepared and enjoyed food. It will be on display in the library at 949 E. Second Street, which is open Monday-Friday from 9am to 4pm.

And, for a food-related Photo Friday treat, here’s an image from our Camp Fire Girls collection of some Tucson children learning the art of cooking on the grill. It’s such a fun, summery image that we couldn’t help but share!

Come on down to our food exhibits – I hope they will inspire you to try some of the delicious food Southern Arizona has to offer!
