Wild Horse Round-up and a Reminder about Closing

5 Jun

Remember that this week the Library and Archives is closed the next two days: Thursday June 6th and Friday June 7th.  The Arizona History Museum will still be open if you need your daily dose of historical goodness though.

We’re going to be working HARD here in the archives while we’re closed. We’re going to be shifting things to make things run more smoothly in our stacks by improving our use of space amongst other things.

You know who else is working hard? The men in this photo! The photo is from one of our Western Ways manuscript collections (MS 1255) and shows a Wild Horse Round-up. There is writing on the back of this photo that tells us that this photo captures the moment when the wild caught horses were released on the ranch containing the tame horses. Eventually these horses would be broken, but in the meantime they were let loose to mingle with their tame brethren.
