First Day of Spring

20 Mar

Today is the first day of spring!

The weather is getting warmer, jackets are getting left at home, people have a skip in their step and here at the archives we are thinking about all sorts of spring-y things from lawn chairs to budding flowers to warm breezes on our faces. And birds! We’re thinking about birds. Arizona is a very popular bird watching destination, with people coming from all over the globe to visit specific areas of the state that are known to have an abundance of feathered beauty. The Historical Society has a great ephemera file on bird watching as well as books and other references to the pastime in our manuscript and photo collections. The Arizona Historical Society also has a large collection of topo maps our users can look at if they’re getting ready to go out into the wilds to search for that one elusive feathered friend they’ve always wanted to see.
