Yesterday was St. Patrick’s Day and it is possible that our readers may be slumped over cups of coffee and regretting all that leftover corned beef in the fridge, which means they need something to brighten up their day. St. Patrick’s Day started out as a celebration of Saint Patrick (a well-known saint around the world now) and the advent of Christianity in Ireland. Since then it has become known as a celebration of Irish culture and traditions. This holiday has been embraced around the world by Irish and non-Irish alike. From its sacred roots, St. Patrick’s Day is recognizable to people in the USA as an excuse to wear green (and pinch those who don’t!), love shamrocks, sip the occasional adult beverage, and have good times with friends. Many cities in the USA have Irish-themed festivals or special celebrations.  Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
